Lisez-moi

The architects aren't Bahraini, why do you think they chose you for the job?

Well, it was the clients who chose me this time, but the architects were so impressed with the work that they have hired me for some of their own work on other major projects for this region.

How long have you been working on the project?

Almost three months, the first set were done in 15 days.

Have you got a villa in the development picked out for yourself? :)

Hehehe... I wish I bought one when I had the chance, especially with the rate they are going right now.

Tell me about the World Trade Centre idea?

The World Trade Center is another of the landmark developments on the island. I was asked to do this job at the time that I was working on the Durrat project and I tried to work around my schedules to develop the required images in time for the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix. Most of what I am doing is being used to show the investors and the outside world the big projects that are setting up in the country and I was needed to provide them the tools to convey their concepts.

Every job I work on is started by trying to find the best solution for the client's needs. We look at the issues then find the proper solutions within the budgets set by the client. Our philosophy is different then others in one main thing: we do the work for the work, not for how much we will make out of it. We only do what is needed as opposed to how much we can charge for. These are the main drivers of how we work: doing things that are fun for us and helping our client to achieve what is best for them.

How long have you worked on it?

Well technically it was two long working days (16 hours a day!), with approvals and high quality renders it took a week, plus the photography that was taken by my good friend. My images were used again in other applications all over the country and elsewhere.

Finally I would like to say that I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the support of a few of my friends and I think I would thank NewTek for believing in me, my best friend and my partner in business Rashad, he has motivated me a lot when I needed it and that made me focus on my work and to him I would say 'Don't worry we will do the movie project soon', then of course my beautiful wife and all her nice Korean food, she stayed up with me all those late nights and gives me the company I need and finally my creator Abdulla my father, he is the influence that made me what I am today and I will always look up to him as my mentor.

Khalid's website has many images of Durrat and his other work or you can visit the official Durrat Al Bahrain site.
